@MorrealeBrian

After graduating Daemen College in Amherst, NY, Mr. Morreale received his master’s degree in Cancer Sciences at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY. There he was mentored under Dr. Prasenjit Dey and studied the role of FLT3L in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells. Specifically, the project involved working with the KPC pancreatic cancer cell line to quantify various cytokines and determine which cytokine drives pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) growth. His research led to the conclusion that FLT3L is a critical protein involved in PDAC progression through the activation of the Janus Kinase/Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway. Mr. Morreale is currently in his 3rd year as a tumor immunology predoctoral candidate in the lab of Dr. Scott Abrams. He currently focuses on the mechanism of PMN-MDSC reprogramming to improve therapeutic efficacy. His research interests include tumor biology, myeloid cell biology, immunotherapy, and vaccine development. Mr. Morreale is also passionate about teaching and coordinates a student run course titled, “Techniques and Analyses for Cancer Sciences” (TACS). Mr. Morreale hopes to complete his predoctoral work in the next two years and continue his research career in a postdoctoral fellowship.
