Following our members’ overwhelming approval, the International Cytokine & Interferon Society (ICIS) officially becomes The Cytokine Society—a name that better reflects our global reach and evolving scientific focus. This transformation sets the stage for a year filled with opportunities to advance cytokine research, recognize excellence, and shape our community’s future.
Celebrate Scientific Excellence: Award Nominations Now Open
The Cytokine Society’s awards program honors the researchers who drive our field forward. Nominations are now being accepted across three categories:
Senior Awards (due March 6, 2026):
- The Cytokine Society-Pfizer William E. Paul Award for Excellence in Cytokine Research
- The Cytokine Society-BioLegend William E. Paul Award for Excellence in Interferon Research
- Mentorship Award
- Honorary Life Membership Award
- Howard A. Young Distinguished Service Award
Young Investigator Awards (due April 3, 2026):
- Regeneron Young Investigator Awards
- Christina Fleischmann Young Investigator Award
- Amanda Proudfoot Young Investigator Award
- Sidney and Joan Pestka Graduate and Post-Graduate Investigator Awards
- The Cytokine Society-Pfizer Young Investigator Awards
Travel Awards (due May 15, 2026):

Shape Our Future: Leadership Nominations Opening Soon
The strength of The Cytokine Society lies in the dedication of its volunteer leaders. This year, we have eight open positions on the ballot, providing multiple pathways for engagement:
- Secretary (2-year term)
- Council Members (2 positions, 3-year terms)
- Councilor for Inclusion & Training (2-year term)
- Nominations Committee Members (4 positions)
Whether you’re interested in serving yourself or know colleagues who would bring valuable perspectives to our leadership, nominations will be accepted in March and April. The ballot will be finalized at the June Council meeting, with voting taking place in July. Your voice matters—help guide our community’s direction.

Our flagship conference heads to Glasgow, Scotland, October 18-21, 2026. This promises to be an outstanding gathering of the global cytokine research community, bringing together more than 500 scientists from around the world. Key Dates:
