Veterinary University of Hannover, Germany
Olivia Luise Gern obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Life Science in Lille, France, where she focused on cell biology and physiology. Since she was always primarily interested in infectious diseases, she continued with a bi-national Master of Science in Infection Biology between the Universidad Católica de Córdoba in Argentina and the Hannover Medical School in Germany. Currently, Olivia is a PhD student at the Veterinary University of Hannover. She is working on the PhD thesis in the Institute for Experimental Infection Research at the TWINCORE Center for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research under the supervision of Ulrich Kalinke. Specifically, she is investigating the cellular response against zoonotic and neurotropic RNA viruses, including vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) and tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV).
