FranceI received my master’s degree in Infectiology, speciality immunology and virology at Université Lyon 1 in Lyon, France. There I have been mentored under Dr. Marlène Dreux and studied the role of plasmacytoid dendritic cells against different respiratory viruses. Specifically, the project involved working with blood-derived plasmacytoid dendritic cells to quantify the secretion of various cytokines upon coculture with infected cells or direct viral particle addition and the identification of different activation mechanisms of pDCs. My research led to the conclusion that, as an example, the human metapneumovirus alone can enter pDCs, be detected by unexpected sensors and induce a robust IFNa response. I am currently in my 3rd year as a virology immunology predoctoral candidate in the lab of Dr. Marlène Dreux. I currently focus on the mechanism of pDC activation, the involvement of specific molecules and their impact on cell-to-cell spread in vitro. My research interests include virus or bacteria biology, myeloid cell biology, cytokines, and treatment development. I am also passionate about science popularization. I hope to complete my predoctoral work in the next year and continue my research career in a postdoctoral fellowship.
