Dr. Samuel Evans Adunyah received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, USA  in 1987. Dr. Adunyah is currently a Distinguished Chairman and Tenured Professor of the Department of Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN. USA, where he has worked since 1991. During that time, Dr. Adunyah has served as the principal investigator for many grants including the Meharry-Vanderbilt-TSU Cancer Partnership NCI U54 grant (since 2001), Meharry Translational Research Center NIMHD U54 grant (2012 to 2021), Meharry RCMI NIMHD U54 grant (since 2019), and the American Society (ACS) diversity grant (since 2021). Under the RCMI Grant , he directs a program that seeks to address health disparities affecting African Americans. Dr. Adunyah received the Cancer Partnership Leadership Award from the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance in 2019.  His research focuses on molecular signal transduction mechanisms of cytokines in regulation of cancer cell growth, and differentiation.  

Dr. Adunyah is a member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), and International Cytokine and Interferon Society (ICIS). He is a reviewer for many journals including the Journal Cytokine. He has written very successful book chapters on IL-17 and IL-21 respectively. He has extensive publications on cytokine signaling in regulation of leukemia cell growth control. He teaches PhD level courses on cytokines.
